Super Bowl breaks betting records in the US
Super Bowl LVII was the first one held in a state where sports gambling is legal.
As reported by CNBC, GeoComply, a company that verifies the locations where people are making bets, reported 100 million sports-betting transactions this Super Bowl weekend, an increase of 25% over last year.
FanDuel said it was taking 50,000 bets per minute at its peak, while
DraftKings had to pay out $2.68 million to one bettor who put $1.68 million on the Chiefs’ victory. Read more
Will Qatari investors take over Manchester United?
Investors linked to the Qatari royal family, as well as those from the US and Saudi Arabia, bid to buy Manchester United on Friday.
The race to buy Red Devils has taken off with bids to acquire the Premier League club coming from Qatari investors. Current owners, the Glazer family are said to demand at least £5bn to sell the club.
British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is also understood to be preparing a bid. Read more
Danish betting market keeps growing
The sports betting market in Denmark is steadily growing, according to the figures from the Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden.
For the full year, Danish GGR reached €902.6m, an increase of 8% on the previous year’s figures of €836.1m, demonstrating a continued rise in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more
FIFA’s revenue reaches $7.6 bn for 2019/2022
Of the $7.6bn, as much as $3.4bn came from broadcast deals (45%). In 2022 alone, the world’s football governing body generated income of €2.77bn, fuelled by broadcast revenues.

NBC Sports and, its streaming service Peacock renew deal with Amaury Sport Organisation, which owns the Tour de France.
The exclusive US broadcast rights, which will run 2024 to 2029, also include ASO’s Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Vuelta a España, Paris-Roubaix, Paris-Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift and several other sporting events. Read more
