Saudi Arabian consortium takes over Newcastle United
English Premier League club has been sold to a three-party consortium, which includes the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), venture capital and private equity company PCP Capital Partners, and RB Sports and Media.
The controversial takeover has been confirmed in an official statement from the Premier League. “Following the completion of the Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test, the club has been sold to the consortium with immediate effect,” said the statement. Read more
Bally’s Corporation Finalizes Merger with Gamesys Group
Bally’s Corporation has completed its previously announced combination with Gamesys Group plc, a UK-based leading, global, online gaming operator.
Under the deal, Bally’s agreed to pay approximately $2.7 billion to Gamesys Group. This represents approximately $25 per company share in cash. Read more
Premier League managers call on their players to get vaccinated
It is not clear how many footballers of the English Premier League have taken a Covid-19 vaccine.
Premier League managers have previously called on their players to get immunised, including Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Nuno Espirito Santo, Steve Bruce and Graham Potter.
The manager of England’s national team Gareth Southgate has also reiterated his support for vaccination.
